DESCRIPTION
A suite of dedicated live recording and rehearsal rooms, which have been designed to a high acoustic specification for maximum sound quality and minimum sound leakage. It is a key hub for local independent artists and musicians seeking affordable, long-term or short-term rehearsal, recording and storage services in South London.
HISTORY & CLIENTS
The studio is founded by drummer Stephen Gilchrist (who has worked with Graham Coxon and The Damned) in May 2011, with the full studio complex opening around November 2013. The studio was under threat of closure due to a rent hike in 2023 but was saved, and continues to operate as a local music hub following a successful community campaign.
It has hosted artists such as Black Midi, Fat White Family, Wet Leg, The Damned, The Monochrome Set, Jim Bob (Carter USM), Art Brut, The Cardiacs and The Orb. It is known for supporting local London talent and has also hosted Shame, Big Joanie, Dinosaur Pile Up, Hot Sauce Pony, The Dust Coda, Berries and Deadletter.
LOCATIONS SERVED
The studios provide rehearsal and recording spaces, famously used by various bands and artists in South London, easily accessible for those in Brixton, Streatham, Herne Hill, Clapham, Battersea and the wider Lambeth borough.
