BANDSPACE
DESCRIPTION
Operated by the City of Oslo’s Agency for Cultural Affairs, Øvingshotellet is a key part of the city’s cultural infrastructure, welcoming more than 100,000 users annually. Located across several floors of Building H, the facility provides professionally equipped, sound-insulated spaces available to hire by the hour. Designed to support artistic development, it serves a diverse range of users, from young amateur musicians and local music teachers to bands, theatre groups, ensembles, workshop leaders and established Norwegian touring artists. Its flexible, pay-by-the-hour model means users only pay for the time they need, without committing to a subscription. The ground floor also serves as a social hub for Oslo’s music community. Alongside reception and a small kiosk selling snacks and drinks, a comfortable lounge provides space for musicians to meet, network and collaborate before and after their sessions.
Crown Prince Haakon of Norway went on an official state visit to highlight the importance of the facility to Norway’s professional music ecosystem.
