The facility features three distinct rehearsal rooms, each provided with a free full backline. - The Stones Room & The Wilko Room - both larger studios (approx. 5m x 8m) equipped with Pearl drum kits, bass combos (Trace Elliot or Ashdown), and multiple guitar amps (Fender, Marshall or Black Heart). - The Vox Room - A more intimate, "up close and personal" studio equipped with 2 guitar amps, 1 bass amp, and drum kit. All rooms include a PA system, microphones, stands and climate control (heating/air conditioning). Drummers are generally asked to bring their own breakables (cymbals, snare, and pedals). Otherwise known as The Riverside Crew Liam Phillips and Dan Williams have rehearsed there for years with their own various projects. All rooms are carpeted, fitted with extractor fans and have an average area of around 240 square feet. Equipment hire includes various vocal PA systems, Yamaha and Premier drumkits and Marshall backline for guitar and bass. There is a comfortable, spacious chill-out area on top of the rehearsal rooms with a skateboard ramp, which is free to use for rehearsal customers but can also be hired for private sessions. Hot drinks and microwave snacks can be made free of charge in the kitchen area and cold drinks and snacks can be purchased in reception. Free Wi-Fi/Internet access is also available in reception. HISTORY & CLIENTS Voltage Studios in Bradford began as rehearsal rooms in 1986, with their 8-track analogue recording studio opening in 1988. Originally known as "The Crystal Cave" and based in Little Germany, the studio has provided recording, rehearsal, and production services in Yorkshire for many years. Run by musicians it provides a welcoming bustling rehearsal rooms complex, with all the equipment, offering free parking making it a convenient choice for bands travelling by car in the Greater London area. There is high demand often leading to long-term bookings for Studio 1. It maintains a Facebook page that highlights the many bands using the space. HISTORY & CLIENTS The studio building itself has been in operation for 36 years, with Sync City originally opening there in 1989. With funding from The Princes Trust and Barclays the current owners briefly opened a single-room location in Bermondsey in June 2005, but moved locations due to noise complaints from neighbours. Since taking over in 2005, the founders expanded the complex from the original three rooms to five, adding Studio 4 in June 2006 and Studio 5 in June 2009. It is a popular rehearsal and recording spot used by notable artists, including (some under its previous name, Sync City) Coldplay, Fontaines D.C., Bombay Bicycle Club, Keane, The Kinks, Snow Patrol, Caribou, The Buzzcocks, Bay City Rollers and Rudimental. The studio is a staple for the UK indie and underground scene, with many regular clients: including The Murder Capital, The Rifles, Sports Team, The Outbursts, Allo Darlin', The Wave Pictures, Dry The River Kawala and Zalinski. Other users include solo artists Tim Burgess, Shane McGowan, Bernard Butler, Kyla La Grange, Blanco White, and Lemar; Ensembles: Afro Celt Sound System and various large-scale projects like a 24-piece African Afro-beat band; and local regulars Maletta Jackson and the Reputations, Cody Jr, and Barking Poets.
