A music rehearsal space is a dedicated acoustic environment. This can be defined by its purpose, layout, furnishings and treatments used to modify the practice rooms within a space. They can range from one bare room where you are expected to supply your own equipment to a dedicated space with soundproofed practice rooms fully equipped with a P.A. system, monitors, backline guitar amps, drum kit, recording facilities, stage, mirror and relaxation area. Similar to sports centres, they act as a critical meeting point between amateur and professional activity. Music Rehearsal spaces are developed over several years, often unique in response to their users, location and the building they are housed in. They serve a relatively local population and mostly located in urban areas. Artists will increasingly need access to high quality spaces as the monetary value of land and buildings grow. A number of spaces work with record companies, promoters, publishers, music management companies, orchestras and opera companies. our research The focus of the Bandspace platform is music rehearsal spaces not recording studios, although many facilities combine both. As far as we know, there has never been significant research in to the role the music rehearsal spaces sector plays in the development of artists and their work. Anecdotally, we know they are important, but what are they precisely, who accesses them, when, how and why? Our research suggests rehearsal spaces are often run by musicians keen to share their enthusiasm for music with others. The sector is characterised by an un-connected proliferation of these music practice rooms across the world. Geographically they are dispersed, with their services shaped organically by demand from their users. Some are linked to schools and youth projects (more info here ). Very few receive public subsidy despite the musical, personal and social benefits derived from participatory group music-making. Indeed, many are subject to local and national taxes, insurances and utility bills like any other business. MAGNET is staffed by people. Real humans who will help you with technical difficulties, choosing the right equipment and giving you the benefit of their years in the music industry. You may choose an automated studio and pay less but experience will also be substanially less. Magnet prides itself on maintaining a creative environment for the all types and standards of musician. It recognoses the importance of human interraction, which is why we created the chill-out common space, where you can meet other muso's or thrash out some ideas with your bandmates. The equipment is maintained in real time, 24/7, so you are guaranteed uninterrupted rehearsal. All you need to do is bring your instrument and leave the rest to us. Although you can do the playing!!! With over 30 years in the music industry, there is very little that will phase us. Service is helpful and friendly. The rehearsal rooms have been tastefully decorated and carpeted. Coloured lighting is available in each room so you can create your own mood. Cooling fans have been installed in every room for comfort and the rooms are cleaned every single day. Even the toilets are spotless!! Each room has its own circuit protected ring main. All our equipment is PAT tested and maintained to a very high standard. Established in 2007, services include rehearsal studios, film, TV & photography studios, Film production, tuition, digital recording studios and a multitude of community based initiatives in order to maximize potential in the Midlands area. It was declared a winner for the best music venue category in the 2014 Rock The House competition at a high-profile annual awards ceremony at the Palace of Westminster. Now services include artist development programmes, state of the art digital recording studios, eight fully equipped rehearsal rooms and broadcast quality video production. In addition there is tuition on many instruments, and a range of school and community based support initiatives that focus on encouraging the next generation of budding superstars. The complex boasts a high level of well maintained equipment, due in part to it’s close relationship with partner Laney Amplification. Each studio is digitally networked via a Logic system to a state-of-the-art digital recording suite which enables artists to produce everything from demos to download, and broadcast quality productions.
