LH2 is a blank canvas. With a ground floor area of 1,668.8sqm (17,693sqft) and a height clearance of 18.1 (60ft), it has plenty of room for a production. It is equally at home playing host to music touring rehearsals, large scale stage and theatre productions, corporate conferences/events/exhibitions, or as a stage for film and TV productions. It has an intelligently designed rigging grid to the impressive height of 18.1 metres and capable of holding in excess of 60 tonnes, designed to ensure it has the versatility to use the studio to its maximum potential. Through its network of close associates, it is able to arrange catering, local crew, catering assistants, runners, riggers, along with hotel accommodation, and any transport that may be required. It also has access to a fully equipped workshop and on-site technician to aid with any fabricating requirements that may arise during preparation for a production. Being located in North West London, it is within easy reach of many major suppliers for those last minute additions or changes that are bound to occur during the preparation for a production. In addition to the main studio area, it has a double height 5,000 sq ft mezzanine adjacent to the studio. Ground floor dining room with tables and chairs to seat 40 people and a kitchen for visiting catering companies to bring in their own equipment. On the 1st floor it has 3 large comfortable dressing/green rooms, a visiting production office with tables and chairs for at least 6 people and a meeting/board room to seat 15 people. The 2nd floor has 8 dressing rooms and an additional office. Fast and easy to use WiFi is available throughout the whole building with a 100 MB dedicated line. It has a 1,000 MB TX line managed by SIS for live transmissions. It has 4 sunken loading docks and one high dock to enable vehicle access to the studio floor. The rear car park has enough space for 12 trucks and 4 coaches, the front car park has 18 dedicated car parking spaces. The premises is licensed to cover retail sale of alcohol, performance of dance, late night refreshments, live music, recorded music and anything of a similar description, indoors and outdoors between 8am to 11:30pm. Dependant on risk assessment and size of the stage the studio can easily accommodate an audience of 1,200. Music Rehearsal spaces are developed over several years, often unique in response to their users, location and the building they are housed in. They serve a relatively local population and mostly located in urban areas. Artists will increasingly need access to high quality spaces as the monetary value of land and buildings grow. A number of spaces work with record companies, promoters, publishers, music management companies, orchestras and opera companies. our research The focus of the Bandspace platform is music rehearsal spaces not recording studios, although many facilities combine both. As far as we know, there has never been significant research in to the role the music rehearsal spaces sector plays in the development of artists and their work. Anecdotally, we know they are important, but what are they precisely, who accesses them, when, how and why? Our research suggests rehearsal spaces are often run by musicians keen to share their enthusiasm for music with others. The sector is characterised by an un-connected proliferation of these music practice rooms across the world. Geographically they are dispersed, with their services shaped organically by demand from their users. Some are linked to schools and youth projects (more info here ). Very few receive public subsidy despite the musical, personal and social benefits derived from participatory group music-making. Indeed, many are subject to local and national taxes, insurances and utility bills like any other business. This early space was famously frequented by the psychedelic rock band Gong and featured a distinctive green shop front seen in the movie Shaun of the Dead in 2004. It later moved to the former New Cross Library building in 1994, expanding into five studios. It was known as a rehearsal and recording space. There is sufficient amount of parking spaces in the compound for both studios, and enough space for a 7.5 Tonne lorry to drop off & load up. It offers many additional services including custom IEMs with ultimate ears, backline hire and a recording studio. It has an automatic roller shutter accessible from the back of the building, load into the middle storing area and then into the relevant studio.
